|Article Author: Dog Clothing Review - A Merryvaluation
When you fall in love with a certain breed (be it Yorkie, Chihuahua, Boston Terrier, Pug... you get the idea), it seems that you can't help yourself. You have to be on the lookout for breed-related items - whether they're for you (we swear the tchotchke business is booming!) or for your pet.
We were very excited, then, to learn of fall/winter coats made specifically for pugs. (Actually, the princess just sniffed as if to say "It's about time", but you know how picky divas can be.)
At any rate, we were thrilled to bits when we opened our package from G.W. Little to discover three "Pug Snuggly" Jackets, designed by a pug (Yogi) especially for other pugs!
From the get-go, these coats are brilliant. Designed to keep barrel chests in mind, they're roomy over the shoulders and have a collar that can be flipped up for the diva look or left down for everyday style. They only fasten in one place - under the belly with velcro. The velcro is roomy enough to accommodate most pugs - all but the chubbiest of the breed. The coat covers underneath the belly, rather than just a strip of fabric and velcro, which is nice. The chest is pre-sewn and just slips easily over the head (we could even do it with one hand, and when's the last time you could say that about a dog coat?).
The fabric at the base of the coat (by the tail) can be worn one of two ways - flat, or turned up a bit to accentuate the tail (see 4th photo). Due to the brilliance of the coat's design, they are very flexible and you can get several different looks with the same coat.
The materials are all sturdy, washable fleece. The designs were gorgeous - pale pink with a black & white bone interior, black with a tan pawprint interior, and black with a giraffe interior. The company says they're reversible, but we liked the coats best "right-side-out".
But the real litmus test: comfort. Oh, how our favorite diva pug revelled in these coats. She loves them. She dances around every time we pull them out (we think she's addicted to the soft fleece).
Honestly, we think they'll become her favorite coats this fall - and we're not just saying that because they were designed specifically for pugs. They're just the perfect mix of functional and stylish and well-cut for the pug frame.
Our only wish is that these styles came in more color options - Merry would love a dozen of these things! Hopefully, we'll see more color combinations (a true cherry red would be stunning, or maybe some styles in microfiber...) in the months to come. Paws crossed!
We can't say enough about these Pug Snuggly jackets. What a super idea.
