Interactive dog toy
Chasing squirrels and bunnies gets a tad monotonous. We think our dogs would appreciate using their noggins as a change of pace. Since they can't very well join our passion for suduko, we'll give them a chance to tackle this interactive dog toy. The Dog Brick is a puppy puzzle from Nina Ottosson Games. Here's how it works: You hide your treats in recesses located under a series of interlocking sliding blocks. Then it's up to your dog to locate the treats by sliding the blocks with either his paw or his nose. Clever pups are rewarded with a tasty treat and the pride of mastering a new challenge. Now if they could just help us with the Sunday crossword in the Times!
Squirt ball toy for dogs
It's summer, and a dog has to do what a dog has to do, namely, romp, play, romp play and romp. Here to get the festivities going is the Squirt Ball from Dogtoys.com, a canine's favorite website. Fill the Squirt Ball with refreshing cold water, and your dog can enjoy a sense of replenishment during his romps. The company is having a buy one, get one free special, so we're thinking one for doggy, and one for us, with the one for us filled with a frozen strawberry mango daiquiri, a drink that originated in Cuba. Not that we're suggesting that during his romps, your dog lift a leg to Fidel. Ay yi yi, our humor is going to the perros. Get in the squirt with the Squirt Ball today!
Snoop Dogg dog toys
As a child, Snoop Dogg performed at the Golgotha Trinity Baptist Church but then decided to go to the school of hard knocks, aka The Wayside County Jail. Jail bird, bird dog, what's the difference? Now marketing these cool dog toys, he's doing something right, n'est-ce pas? The doggy chew toy handcuffs might be an odd choice, but the boom box that when squeezed plays Snoop barking up a storm is right on target, as is the toy microphone that allows your schnauzer, Afghan, Papillon or other breed to morph into a doggie rapper. Knock three times on the ceiling if you have to go out for your walk. Oh wait; that isn't rap. Guess it's time to look at Snoop Dogg's rap sheet again, to figure the whole mess out. Woof!
Water ramp for pets
We all love to frolic in the water on a sweltering summer day. But pools and other watering holes can pose serious danger to our pets. Slippery and steep ledges can trap pups in deep water creating a lethal situation. Solution? The Super Skamper-Ramp. Now we don't have to worry about our dog falling into the pool and getting trapped with help nowhere to be found. This ramp works without human aid. All we had to do was to secure the ramp to our pool. Out dog can use the holes to get proper footing and free himself from the water. With this hazard taken care of, our vacation spot is much more relaxing.
Intelligence Quotient Test for Chiens
Here's something a dog can really scratch her head over; The Pooch IQ Test from PoochIQ.com. If your doggy scores really high on the test, you should feel free to discuss Einstein's theory of general relativity with her afterwards. Meanwhile, the test makers advise that your dog's success in the exam is contingent on her being motivated by treats. Duh! The fifteen exercises in the Pooch IQ Test kit test problem solving skills, instinctive intelligence, obedience intelligence, and reasoning skills among other aspects of your K-9's smarts. The Pooch IQ Test comes from Beverly Hills; any Pampered Puppy who wants to get close to that posh municipality can't be all dumb.
Dog toy storage chest
Artist Stephen Huneck lived through a very difficult period that led him to erect a Dog Chapel in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Many of his books and woodprints are based on one of his dogs, Sally the black Labrador. We just love the Huneck Dog Toy Chest on sale through Orvis. We also wanted to call your attention to The Cottage at Dog Mountain, which looks like a great weekend getaway spot for you and doggy. The storage piece features a hand-painted resin front panel and a hinged wooden lid. Perfect for Maltese, Pekingese, Dobermans and any living thing that barks.. Makes a dog want to go into the romper room and romp.
Cupcake dog toy
Who doesn't love a Hostess snack! We fondly remember unpacking our brown paper lunch sacks and spotting the telltale iced cupcake inside. We knew that mom really loved us, when she tucked in this tasty chocolate treat (sigh--trans fats didn't exist back then) to liven up the diet of bologna sandwiches. Now that we are pet parents we can lavish the same type of love on our fur children, minus all the calories and sugar highs. Choco Pupcakes are 100% calorie free and 100% healthy for your pup. These plush cupcake toys (two to a package) are a guilt-free treat we know your sweetie will enjoy.
Treat dispensing dog toy
Old episodes of Lassie didn't work, neither did the cat. Finally we've found a way to keep our dogs entertained for hours--the Treatstik. How does it work? Pretty simple actually: Unscrew the cap and load the plastic stick with your pup's favorite nibbles, screw the top back on and toss it to your pup. Next step is sitting back and watching as your dog tries to shake the treats free or figure our how to open the cap. Either way it's going to take a while. The stick comes in two sizes and a few bright and bold colors. Now all we need is some way to entertain the cat.
Vintage inspired dog toys
Sometimes we're positively fed up with video games and feel overwhelmed by modern animation. We long for simpler things, like the sweet days of soda fountains and penny arcades. These nostalgic squeaky toys from Rollover Red Rover hearken back to a simpler time. Available in three sizes, there's an animal appropriate for every pup (Labs get the 10.5" Big Frog and Chihuahuas the 4" Mini Bunny). These doggie toys are full of charm and old school character. Not only are they cute beyond belief, they are also certified non-toxic and lead-free. Chomp away furry friends!
Striped bone-shaped dog toy
We think these fabric pet bone toys are pretty as spring flowers. For our "bouquet" we'd pick one of each preppy stripe color offered: brown, pink, blue, red and green. And just like the best things from nature, these bones don't involve pesticides or chemicals, they're made of 100% organic cotton and filled with hypo-allergenic polyester fill. To keep pup's attention, the bones come with a built-in squeaker! This is a perfect little item to tuck into a doggie Easter basket or to bring along on a puppy playdate. It's guaranteed to get tails wagging.
Shoe-shaped dog toy
No! Not the Manolos! Hey! Get away from my Jimmy Choos! If you've got a pup with a foot fetish this may sound all too familiar. Dogs simply love to gnaw on our shoes. Since we don't much like to chase our dogs around the house trying to retrieve (that's their job!) our slobbery slippers--we're into distraction. We've tossed a few of these Wee Doggies toy shoes around our home to keep those tiny teeth otherwise engaged and out of our closet. Pick from three funky designs and maybe you'll be able to salvage some of your prized heels and still provide your dog with entertainment.
Juicy Couture dog toy
We've been living in our Juicy Couture track suits for years--love the combination of spunky fashion and comfort. We were delighted to learn one of our favorite designers is now making a dress-up doll for kids of all ages. The Juicy Couture Stuffed Yorkie set makes for a perfect play date for you and your furry pal. The set's available at Bloomingdale's and comes with a fluffy stuffed Yorkie, carrying case (doubles as a wardrobe) and two changes of outfit. Let your dog pick if the Yorkie should wear the pink collar with the matching tee or a navy blue hoodie. Decisions, decisions...
Dog screw and nut rubber chew toys

Which would your dog rather chew; a Louis XIV hand-crafted ebony armoire, or a rubber screw and nut toy set? We all know the answer to that question, which is why we recommend that you close the door to the room with the armoire and order Uncommon Goods screw and nut rubber chew toy set immediately. Forget about getting down to brass tacks, these chew doys will let Rover and Fluffy get down in the way they want to get down and that is nonetheless acceptable in polite company. These chew toys have a minty flavor to help keep our best friends' breath fresh.
Dual purpose dog toy
"Hey what are all those little splinters in the hallway! Oh no, the puppy's been at it again!" What are we talking about? The incessant nibbling on our favorite wooden chair leg that our furry family member performs on a weekly basis. Sound all too familiar? There's a new solution: the Chew Leg Cover/Dog Toy. The natural rubber toy is designed to wrap around the legs of chairs, tables and beds to protect the wood from canine teeth. The design has a built-on knob making it appealing to dogs and diverting them from destroying the exposed wood inside our homes.
Festive dog toy
On Dasher, On Donner, On Comet, On Vixen! Let your pup get into the holiday spirit by gifting him this irresistible "Cane Deer" toy. We just know your furry little elf will love racing around with his new red-nosed friend. It'll be tough to keep this gift wrapped and under the tree until the 25th, so we're not even going to try. After all we're not Scrooges. We're going to kick off the holiday season early and give this present early. We say, "Let the reindeer games begin!" Now we'll sit back with some cocoa and watch our pups dash away, dash away, dash away all!
