Rachel Ray dog food

20080805n.jpg We are exhausted just trying to keep up with this woman. The tireless ray of sunshine, (aka Rachel Ray) has launched yet another business--this time for her furry fans. Ray says she worked with experts in pet nutrition to create Rachael Ray Nutrish. Isaboo (Ray's dog) seems to relish the taste. Pick from two flavors: beef and brown rice or chicken and veggies. Packed with quality ingredients, such as omega fatty acids, oatmeal, real beef and extra virgin olive oil, we bet our dog will join us in singing Ray's praises at suppertime.

Pet food bowl

20080804n.jpg We know you. You poo-poo plastic and turn your nose up at playful ceramic dishes. Everything in your world needs to have flair and class. Well Mr. and Mrs. Fancy Pants, we've just the doggie dish you've been searching for. This exceptional iron pet food bowl features a horse-head motif and antiqued finish. Handcrafted in Mexico, this piece of art was dreamed up by Jan Barboglio. Jan does it all by hand--cutting, forging, and finishing--and personalizes each dish with a signature plus a sentiment, proverb, or poem. Now that should suit the most discriminating pet parent.

Dog biscuit cookbook

20080802n.jpg Jessica Disborw Talley and Eric Talley have been spending a lot of time in the kitchen. No, they weren't preparing a meal for their human friends. Instead they were perfecting recipes for their new book The Organic Dog Biscuit Cookbook. These all-natural recipes are sure to appeal to owners who have abandoned commercial pet food, or folks like us who want to make a special treat now and again for our furry friends. It's not all biscuits. Recipes include the "Grillin and Chillin" hot dog treat made from a beef concoction. With over 100 "tail wagging" recipes, we are bound to find one that our pup will drool for.

Feeding dish for dogs

20080710n.jpg "Oh enough already of the girly dresses, bows and pink beds." Yes, we've heard you murmuring "what about the boys?" Well, grumble no more gentlemen. This one's for you. There's nothing pink or frilly about this find. This cool new dish is just the ticket to turn your furry man's meals from ho-hum to "rockin." These Berlin bowls are right out of the punk rock movement. Metal studs are peppered all over this manly serving piece. If you've got testosterone pumping through your veins and a desire to act upon your wild Clash groupie side, this is your dish.

Jan Barboglio designer dog bowl

20080710s.jpgEvery now and again, one's human delightfully surprises one. Ginger the spoiled big city Sheltie here. For the longest time, my human had on his Carrera marble mantleplace an adorable Cochinito Money Bank designed by the ever fabulous Jan Barboglio. Little did I know, he was saving his pennies and even those stray Euro coins to buy me Jan Barboglio's Small Crown pet bowl. Inspired by the romance of historic Mexico, this bowl has added to the joy I take in eating pollo in red mole, carne asada and foie gras pate. So foie gras isn't Mexican; shoot me. The handcrafted iron and tin stand with crown motif is what gives this piece its designer edge; I of course do not attach any snob value to its being sold through Neiman Marcus. One of my human's human friends says that that store should instead be called Markup, but my human says this joke is vulgar, and I'm inclined to agree.

Designer colored dog bowls

20080703n%5B1%5D%20%282%29.jpg We've had our eye on these modern supper saucers for a while, but there was a little something missing...color. When it comes to decorating, we've decided to step away from sterile black and white and add some warmth to our nest. Now that the Yum Bowl is available in pink and chocolate we are ready to take the plunge and add these pieces into the groovy mix. We think that our home should reflect the colorful personalities of its inhabitants. Although the hues are new, the engaging Karim Rashid design remains intact. These delightful dishes have a non-skid bottom and a handle has been incorporated into the asymmetric design.

French country dog dish

20080702s.jpgWith lots of retail outlets in different countries and now with dog-specific items, Pierre Deux may truly be called a chien store. Here we have the French country chien dish in ocre, French for ochre. What will the little chiot (puppy) eat tonight; canard a l'orange or a hearty cassoulet? Inside the dish there is an image of a dog and cat together, hilariously implying that they would politely share foie gras with a fig compote were it placed in the bowl. This item is dishwasher and microwave safe. If when it comes to speaking French you feel like the cat got your tongue, there is also a bowl that says Chat. Idle chat if you ask us; we're going for the Pierre Deux French country chien dish.

Disposable water bottle for dogs

20080701n.jpg Who needs to squish a tattered Poland Spring water bottle to the dog park only to have their dog miss out on half the water as it spills onto the ground? Not us. We're upgrading to the new Aqua Pure Breed. This is a clean source of drinking water for dogs on the go--and we are always on the go. Aqua Pure isn't just dressed up tap water. This doggie beverage is filled with mountain spring water and then enhanced with minerals. But the best part isn't the pedigree of the H20, it's the clever way the water is packaged--in a disposable bowl shape. Now there's hardly any waste as our pup slurps up his water after a good workout.

Spiked black dog bowl

20080610s.jpg From the cleverly-named Italian company Petaporter comes the "Easy Rider" dog bowl, black as pitch, with spiked perimeter. Italian for bowl is ciotola; that first syllable is pronounced like the "chee" in cheeta, you should forgive us for mentioning a cat on a dog blog. If you happen to read Italian, or just want to keep up-to-date on cool, offbeat doggy products, you could sign up for Petaporter's newsletter. The spiked black ciotola is available in two sizes, small and large. Petaporter says of this product "Ciotola aggressiva con borchie stile metallaro per un cucciolo dal cuore tenero." That means "Aggressive bowl with metal-rock style spikes for a puppy with a tender heart." Aw, shucks!

Peanut butter bones for dogs *

20080604a.jpg* This is a paid sponsored post.

Odds are, you either knew or were one of those kids; you know, the kind who stuck their entire finger into the peanut butter jar, scooped up a lovely creamy mass, and stuck the whole kit and kaboodle right in your mouth. If your pooch had fingers, we're willing to wager they'd do exactly the same... as it is, ours often try to stick their whole entire heads in the jar. (Ever tried to get peanut butter out of dog fur? Ew. We're just sayin'.) Luckily, there's a better way, with Barkin' Biscuit's bestselling all natural Peanut Butter Bones. They're made from the creamiest of organic peanut butters, but way, way easier to clean up after. Only the simplest and best quality ingredients make it into these bones - whole wheat flour, water, vegetable oil and organic peanut butter. Simple... but so yum. Best of all - to our way of thinking - is that the bones are available in TWO different sizes; one for tiny little Fifis and one for big-boned Fidos. We wish more companies would offer this! Smart, simple, delicious... now that's the way to a pooch's heart!

Doggie treat sampler *

20080602a.jpg* This is a paid sponsored post.

Here's the thing about doggie gifts; sometimes you just don't know what to give. While not all pups are quite as picky as Goldilocks, the reality is that pups have favorite tastes just like their owners do, and also tastes that just don't chomp the biscuit, if you know what we mean. Biscuit samplers are therefore a genius solution, and we're particularly excited about Barkin' Biscuit's generous 10oz doggie treat sampler. This box features a 2oz sample of the bakery's most popular flavors: peanut butter, carrot and molasses, parmesan, cinnamon apple and pumpkin paws. Several of these flavors even feature wheat-free goodness - a very helpful option for pooches with sensitive tummies. Best of all, these delicious samplers come in gorgeous, gift-quality boxes with a stylish bow, making them an absolutely perfect option for a hostess gift for a dog owner, a "welcome to the world" gift for a new puppy, a birthday present for that special pooch, or even a "get well soon" perk-me-up for a pooch that's had to deal with downtime due to illness. You can never have too many gift ideas!

Polar Pups frozen dog treats

20080605s.jpg We all know that in the dog days of summer, it can be nice to get the cold shoulder treatment. So why not see if your doggy likes Polar Pups, a frozen treat for canines created by Becky Marshall in Chicago? The frozen treats are soy-based and come in four flavors; banana, blueberry, apple and peanut butter. Tickled though we are by the concept of turning a hot dog into a cool dog, we do still love our pomegranate and dark chocolate chip ice-cream from the Sheer Bliss company. But chocolate is a doggy no-no, so while you're indulging in it, your tail-wagging friend can at least enjoy her little frozen treat. Polar Pups are sold mainly in the Chicago area but the producer will ship them to you for a pretty penny. Start polishing your pennies now!

Summery ocean-themed dog treats

20080604.jpg We've cast our line and found something fishy for your dog. Cain & Able Collection is offering Treat!, a series of K-9 yum yums with a summery seaside theme. There's an undecorated fish and an apple and oats fish with decorative coating. There is a flip-flop with the foot's toe-nails painted pink, just like on certain Yorkies we know. Made from vegetarian ingredients, the describes the treats as "human consumable." But what importance would there be to a human liking the taste of a dog treat? After all, when our dogs are happy, we are happy, though there might be an exception or two to that rule. In any case, given these treats, were we dogs we'd definitely want to play Go Fish!

Ingenious dog bowl

20080602s.jpg

Is your dog a pig? Does she eat so fast that afterwards, she passes gas, barfs, gets bloat or worse? We don't know any K-9s like that around here, nor would we care to. But Nancy Kerrigan, inventor of the Dogpause Bowl did, and took action by inventing this handy dandy item that slows your gorging pig of a dog down so that she won't imperil her own health with her bad manners. One of the customer testimonials on the company site is headed "No more throwing up after a meal." Almost makes us want to stick our paws down our throats. The bowl has a two cup capacity spread over four zones. You could think of this as a zone diet for pooches.

Dehydrated raw food for dogs *

20080601a.jpg* This is a paid sponsored post.

If you're a pooch owner who goes a little beyond supermarket kibble, odds are you've heard of the RAW food movement. But The Honest Kitchen has gone a step further and made feeding your pooch this way almost as easy as hauling out a bag of kibble; their Force dehydrated raw dog food is really interesting stuff (it rehydrates in just 5 minutes). It features hormone-free chicken as well as several fruits and vegetables, flaxseed and kelp. The dehydration preserves the food, removing only the moisture so that all nutrients remain - and their commitment to healthy, wholesome and nutritious meals for your pet is serious. Their food is actually made in a human food factory in California! Fresh, local ingredients are used whenever possible and all meats are hormone free. Plus, you'll save on shipping - their 10 lb box of food (so you're only paying for 10 pounds to ship) actually makes, rehydrated, 43 pounds of food. Sweet.
