Dog pillow
Chocolate brown is one of our favorite colors. We've been thrilled to see this hue being picked up in interior fashions over the past few years. The color is warm, chic and here's the best thing--it hides dirt. So a yummy brown pillow is a perfect spot for a dog to nest. This Kept Pets Dog Pillow is one of our top picks for a contemporary looking dog bed. Expect good quality, this piece is handmade in Brooklyn, NY. Pick from one of three abstract prints and you'll be sure to liven up an otherwise staid area of your home. This sophisticated bed suits our lifestyle perfectly.
Cuddle dog bed
Trying to manage work and family can wear a pet parent out. It doesn't look good for us being able to grab a much needed nap any time soon. So we'll just have to sleep vicariously. And our pups tell us there is no better place to catch some zzz's than this Caramel Rose Cuddle/Pink Diamond Dog Bed. When it comes to comfort, these beds can't be beat. The supremely soft fabric invites sweet dreams (did we mention the cover is reversible?). But here's the real secret: The "well"--a carved out nook--in the middle. Since the sides are firmer, our pooch gets a little hug every time she curls up for some shut eye. Now if we could just find a human-sized version to keep in the office for a quick power nap we'd be in business.
Elegant bamboo-framed dog bed
We are ready to sniff (daintily), turn two or three circles, lie down and take a beauty nap, so inspired are we by the Bambu Lounger available through Pet Lounge Studios. That mattress is stuffed with memory foam (cue Barbra Streisand singing "Memories" from The Way We Were). It is set into a solid bamboo frame, styled so as to look chic in an urban loft or even in an urban dump. Just look at those clean, elegant lines! We are dazzled by the color choices for the cushion; leopard, pebble, coral, sea foam, sea pebble foam, marine and, for doggies that like the nightlife, dusk. The Bambu Lounger; because your doggie, and you, deserve it.
Dog kennel beautifying set
Decadent Digs' Peaceful Red Kennel Couture puts comfort, style, grace and elegance into being caged. The set's double door black crate gets softened with a plush-insert-stuffed faux fur lounging pad, while the crate itself is covered with a Swarovski crystal adorned cover with four swag back drapes held with Velcroed tasseled bejewelled tiebacks. This makes for a stunning complement to any traditional home decor. It is available in tiny, small and medium. If on the Decadent Digs website you click on the photo of the Peaceful Red Kennel Couture set, you will get a good idea of the beautiful detailing in the materials.
Ultra-cool dog furniture
Hola! Gingera, the spoiled big city Shetland Sheep-perra here, with news that there's talk, or should I say bark, of a K-9 remake of Woody Allen's movie Vicky Christina Barcelona. I'm not waiting for that, sin embargo (that's Spanish for however), to add some continental Spanish pizzazz to my life of luxury. You have got to see the dog furniture from The Cool Dog, a company based in Spain. Their site is particular, sort of like me, except that you don't have to turn off your pop-up blocker to look at me, necessarily. This snazzy, state-of-the-art perro furniture is turning up wherever people and their dogs are cool, from the Costa del Sol to La Jolla and beyond. What does it tell you that the Top Madrid website has run a full piece on The Cool Dog?
Designer dog furnishings
Pulling together a room can be challenging for humans. But imagine how our dogs feel. For too long we've been scraping together their living spaces with hodge podge furniture. NotSoShabbyPets is here to change all that with their "All Inclusive Pet Bedroom" for dogs. Who's behind this collection? Model turned designer Melissa Pearcy. Pearcy loves pets and loves shabby chic design. In her "ah-ha" moment, she combined the two giving the pet world, beds, armoires, and feeders in a coordinated and ornate style. We think the hand painted, slightly distressed, pieces are divine. Now we'll just have to hire Pearcy to make the rest up our homes look this good.
Oxford leather dog sofa
Ginger the spoiled big city Sheltie here. Darling, listen to me; if anybody tries telling you that you can't put lipstick on a Sheltie, tell them Ginger said to kiss off. I feel as though I'm getting kissed by The Oxford Leather Dog Sofa. Sooooo comfy! This decorator item is available in black or brown; please, please, please color-coordinate to your dog. They call it leather, but was any pigskin sacrificed in the making of this couch? No, no and no. You can curl up on this dog sofa and watch the DVD of Babe on a flat screen high-definition T.V. with no guilt. The Oxford Leather Dog Sofa is made of a glossy, leather effect material, with an emphasis on the glossy because that's what a spoiled big city Sheltie loves.
Highly-refined settee for dogs

Tea, for deux, and deux for tea, and treats, and treats and deux and Oh excuse me! Ginger the spoiled big city Sheltie here, singing the praises of Pierre Deux's Le Petit Settee in Bonis Black. The classic French hardwood frame is exactly comme il faut, and comfy il faut too. That elegant gal in the picture is a friend of mine; we get our pedicures done side by side sometimes, just so we can bask in each other's glamour. You can do that when you have nothing to fear from the competition. This Petit Settee is a scale version of the larger size for humans, so a matching set will make the home look tres jolie. When seated in yours, you can look up at your human and hope she sings "Picture you upon my knee, just tea for deux, and deux for tea."
Luxe Hollywood chair for dogs
Let's say you're a Maltese, you've just gotten groomed and fluff-dried, and your nails are painted pink. Where are you going to sit, to best show off your spoiled cuteness? The Hollywood Pet Chair in cotton candy pink could be just the throne for you. This chair has subtle Art Deco lines that nonetheless scream "Princess!" It's 34" wide . . . more than enough room for a Maltese to stretch out in. And the brushed fabric is oh so comfy. The Hollywood Pet Chair is also available in Kiwi green, which would go nicely with a male dachshund, but darling, really, if you are a pink toe-nailed Maltese, a spoiled princess, why would you ever give the time of day to a male dachshund?
Igloo style striped dog bed
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a canine in possession of four tired paws, must be in want of a comfy place to curl up, rest, and make cute faces at its human companion. That's why we love the Igloo Striped Houses made by The Zazu and sold through Osso & Company, Osso being an Italian word for bone. The all cotton covers on the Igloo Striped Houses are machine washable. The real beauty in the design is that the item has enough of an enveloping quality to make a doggy feel protected, while not being closed off for long sessions of head patting and treat offerings.
Willow dog bed
Willow furniture always reminds us of sitting on our Granny's porch in big woven chair enjoying a cool lemonade as we watched the summer drift by. The handmade texture of willow furniture is timeless and always warm and inviting. Now we can take a bit of the front porch inside with this lovely willow dog bed. This bed has a few accents that make it especially fine. The cushion is plump and inviting and note the solid base and leather handles--this isn't some cheap toss away bed. For sensitive pups, we love that the bed is elevated off the floor to avoid draft and damp. Toys and puppy treasures can get stashed in the drawer right below the bed.
Chaise lounge for dogs
Think pink! Then think about a ridiculously furry and fabulous sofa. What you've conjured up is the Deluxe Pink Chaise Lounge. The designers have taken a classic piece and updated it for the modern, sassy pooch--the girl dog that's in touch with her inner Carrie Bradshaw. The bottom is a traditional Queen Anne wooden frame, but the tops is part Italian cerise damask and part sheep skin. What girl can resist a hot pink fur bed for a snuggle? To be sure, with this opulent treasure in your home, not mush else is going to get noticed. So we think we'll get this and give the dusting and vacuuming a break for awhile.
Chic designer dog bed
Haute Pooch is raising the bar on puppy luxe a little hauter with their Manhattan Sofa. It has a genuine wood frame; if you think about wood in the right way, it's a bark unto itself. Yes, that upholstery on the paneling and the seat cushion is Microsuede, just the thing for comfort after a hard day of getting groomed. Originally designed for a boutique hotel chain, this doggy bed will make your home look like something out of Barkitechture Digest. We love, love, love the chocolate color, though there's nothing shabby about the other color options.
Air conditioned dog house
Right now the thermometer reads 91 degrees. It's simply too hot to think straight and we're not even wearing fur coats. Building a pool in our backyard is out of the question, so this summer we've been on the prowl for a canine castle that will give our pet much-needed shade. Then we spotted The Cool Pet House. It's a climate controlled dog house. We love the extremely hi-tech electronic features, such as indoor lighting and quiet fans--it's even got a remote control. Sure, it looks like a traditional dog house with a proper roof, but look again, this doggie haven has all the accoutrements to keep your pet cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Faux leather dog chair
Meet George Jetson (cue space-funk music)...his dog Astro. It started in 1962 when this animated show changed the way we viewed modern living. The middle class embraced clean lines and modular design. These days contemporary furnishing are saturating the dog marketplace too. Take this new faux leather Retro Chair--it's sleekly styled to give dogs a chic place to relax. We think our design-snob dog would love to curl up on the velveteen fabric to watch his favorite episodes of Meerkat Manor. The beauty of this seat is that while it offers all the comforts of a cushy bed, it's also pretty divine to behold. So thanks Jane & George Jetson, for helping us bid frumpy styles farewell.
