For Owners: Dog art showcase *

You know what sucks? Bare walls. They're blah. They're uninspired. They tell your visitors absolutely nothing about your personality. Which is why we love art, and why Best Friends NYC has set up a "not-for-profit" art installation; a 12 artist showcase celebrating artists who are "inspired by dogs". Inside, you'll find dozens of breeds pictured including Weimeraners (so lovely and iconic - thank you, William Wegman), Pugs (our personal fave here at Pampered Puppy), Frenchies, Boston Terriers... really, there's something here for every dog owner. Some of the artwork is truly breathtaking, and the artists run the gamut geographically from Los Angeles to Brooklyn, NY. Talented, too: many of the artists have had gallery showings worldwide, magazine features, and are collected by the rich and famous. Most of the painting styles are traditional, but there are a a couple of more modern artists included in the showcase. Each artist's page features a half-dozen or more paintings you can see full-size as well as read a mini-bio of the artist discussing their dog-themed art and portraits. We were particularly taken with Daniela Ria's "old masters"-inspired style and Ellen Silverberg's mise-en-scene paintings. Stunning work that may just encourage you to pick up some pooch-lovin' art for your bare, uninspired walls... and inspire yourself.
