World Events Wednesday: Zeus, the new world’s tallest dog

According to the Guinness World Records, Zeus, the Great Dane is the new world´s tallest dog. Zeus´s owners Denise and Kevin Doorlag didn’t even dream that they will get the world’s tallest dog four years ago after they brought Zeus home. As a puppy, Zeus had normal proportions, and today he is 3 feet, 8 inches tall and weights 150 lbs.

Denise and Kevin Doorlag say that people on the street often ask them whether Zeus is a horse. That’s kind of funny, as this Great Dane is a very playful and gentle giant dog and not a big bully as some people think.

The truth is that Zeus is not even aware of how big he is, so even when playing with other dogs, which he likes a lot, he likes to run from them or even hide if he gets scared.

Zeus is a good boy, as he volunteers at the local hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Denise and Kevin have two children and another dog – German shepherd named Sagan with whom Zeus is a true friend.

This friendly dog likes to east a lot but when is the time for a nap, he usually sleeps in Denise’s and Kevin’s bed, and at night, he gets to sleep in his own room on a queen-size futon mattress.
