waiting to go out

// 2010.02.05

Every walk is the same routine: Dress the pug. Put on booties (if wearing). Put on collar and leash. Walk pug over to door. Attach pug to doorknob while I get my coat on. Does it look mean? She's on a retractable, so it's not tight on her and she can always pull away. Honestly, I've just always done it and it's easy and simple and she stays right there because she knows she gets to go outside. But looking at this photo, you'd think I was torturing the poor little bit.

Does it look mean? Feel free to weigh in, in the comments.

Trust me, no pugs were harmed in the making of this photo. Plus, you all get to see my new (old) floors! We moved to a much older house this time 'round and some of the floors are original, which means scuffs and wear and really lovely character. :)

you are not mean! she looks totally ready for her walk. i think that is a great idea, ours get so jumpy when we get the leashes out, merry is so sweet, quietly waiting.
hugs,

I don't think it looks mean at all!! It's a really cute picture! :)

First, I LOVE old homes and all the character that comes with them :-D

Second, no I don't think that seems mean. She can move around like you said, and it's always harder to get the pup ready after you have a coat on, etc.

I still have to get Bingley some of those boots!

I don't think it's mean , but she's making it look like it is lol It remind me of my little Fred , when he gets up in the morning as soon as his little paws hit the floor he wish i was already up and by the door ready to go out. He want out NOW! and he doesn't want to wait a micro second , as soon as he's up i think i should be by the door ready to go . Silly babies sure are spoiled but they deserve it:)

We have the same floors, our house is really old too but i like it. Except our floors are really worn out because they're old and also because we also have big dog running around the house and i like out you say it's "lovely character" i will try to remember that next time i get a splinter in my foot lol! Our house also has the old trims around the windows , do yours have that too?

I think Merry is really cute in her little red coat and booties. Don't let her guilt you with the "mommy you're so mean" look , my little Fred give it to me all the time and it's totally not true lol!

Awwww. Merry looks likes she's just waiting, catching some light before she enters the big world. I do not think your solution for getting ready is mean.

Your floors are gorgeous. I love old wood floors.

Blessings.

If you're mean, we ALL are! Everyone who owns a pug knows that when they want something they will worry you to death until they get it. I put Lucy's leash on then take her to where my coat is and step on the leash (about a foot from her)until I get ready. If I don't step on her leash or leave too much room between her and my foot, she wraps the leash around my legs because she's too impatient to wait in one place until I get ready and somehow believes that circling me while whining is going to make it go faster

I don't think it's mean at all. I do it all the time too (and they are on shorter leashes) because if I don't they race all around me and I get tangled up!

I hook mine up to the door knob, too - not mean at all! Once the sweaters go on they tend to go totally BESERK - without the knob trick I'd be chasing them around like a maniac! :) Let's face it - the pugs could really use some consraints at times.
