get better soon, grandma

// 2008.09.25

Merry and I are both a little worried today for my mom, who's in the hospital undergoing an angiogram and a possible angioplasty today. I know my Pop will be reading this when he gets home - take care, Dad, and tell Mom that her Grandbaby sends licks and snuggles. We're all thinking of you guys today and just know that everything will go just fine. My mom's the toughest lady I know - she can get through anything (and has).

Update, 1:30pm: I've just gotten word from my Pop that Mom will actually need full bypass surgery - possibly double, possibly triple. I'm not sure yet when this is scheduled but they've said they'll be admitting her until the surgery so, presumably soon. You guys were so great in offering hope and prayers last time Merry's grandparents were in crisis; it would mean a lot to us to hear from you again. Even in good times, my folks read the Merrylog several times daily and I know that your support would mean a lot to them. I'm off to see my folks in an hour or two, so posting may be sporadic for a while; I'll do what I can.

oh merry does have a look of concern on her sweet face. my best to you all...especially grandma.

Sending prayers, healing thoughts, and positive energy to your mom and whole family. Bijou and I recently went through a health crisis with my mom, so we know how scary this can be. Puppy kisses and human hugs coming your way!

Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and sending positive energy your way!
My Mom had triple bypass surgery when she was 72 several years ago and she came through with no problems. These days bypass has become almost a routine surgical procedure, so try not to worry too much...I'll bet your Mom comes through like a champ as well...here's to a speedy recovery!

Dear Angie, family, and Pugster angel,

When my mother went into heart failure it was scary for us too. They put a pace maker in and she's still ticking strong 6 years later!

When we begin to face our parents mortality we can experience our next, rightful, inevitable, unfolding place in our own personal time-line. It has been, for me, painful, fascinating, terrifying, exhilarating, and ultimately humanizing.
Now, try to get some sleep. Eat properly. You can't help mom by making yourselves sick. I will keep you all in my prayers. And I will know, for you, that in truth, all will be well. All is well. And so it is.

Blessings and Peace,
Rev. Allyson Day

My Pug girls and I send out prayers and wish all of you the best. It can be scary but your Mom is a tough cookie and she will put up a great fight! Make sure you take pictures of Merry to help cheer her up! Hospitals are not the most cheerful of places and Merry's cuteness can do wonders for that.

Best thoughts and wishes from Paddington, Corduroy and I here in Ottawa. We have all of our fingers and toes crossed for you!

16 : Liz : September 26, 2008 10:28 AM

Hello - I absolutely empathize with your situation. My Mom was recently here (last Thursday to Tuesday) and my pug, Dame Edna, was so thrilled to see her Grandma! However, my Mom was taken to the hospital and was there for the entire 5 days in town. Edna was so lost and the look on Merry's little face is one I saw all too often over the past week. I send good thoughts and prayers to you and your family. These women are so amazing and strong in the face of adversity! I only hope to keep that strength in my heart!

I like Heather's idea, pictures of Merry in her room will likely do your mom wonders! Try not to worry too much, my 73 year old dad had quadruple by-pass surgery and said very shortly after the surgery that he felt better than he had in years! Lucy and I will keep your mom and your family in our prayers!

18 : Sue : September 26, 2008 11:03 AM

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all! We wish Merry's grandma the very best wishes for a successful surgery and speedy recovery! Much love and doggy kisses, Maggie, Abby and Amp

Our thoughts are with you Angie and your family. This has probably been going on for a while and I'm sure when the surgery is done...your mom will feel better than she has in a long time. We look forward to hearing from you and wish her a full and quick recovery.

This is from Bunny the pug in Ohio. My daddy had a quadruple bypass almost 3 yrs. ago and then a year after that he had surgery for 3 abdominal anuerysms. His recovery took a few months and the first couple of weeks was a little hard for him. When he was recovering from heart surgery, he was cold all of the time and I stayed right by his side to keep him warm. He is nice and healthy now and walks me, feeds me green beans and plays with me. Merry, you and I both know that all puggys have healing qualities and your grandma must believe this. Please go see her as much as you can so she can feel warm and heal. God places us in special peoples lives for a reason. My mommy and daddy will keep your grandma and grandpa in their prayers.
You puggy friend,
Bunny

Agreeing with Heather ... keep Merry's photos in your Mom's room. Merry makes me smile every day and she'll do wonders for your Mom. God bless.
