anything but the toothbrush
// 2006.05.29Most books on raising pugs will tell you how much they hate having their folds cleaned. This is generally true, although the princess usually manages to get into it, pushing her face against my hand for all she's worth. But tooth cleaning? Forget it. I try hard to make sure we brush at least three times a week, but it's a struggle every time. (It's amazing how a tiny little pug can manage to evade a strong-willed adult holding a toothbrush with nothing more than her ability to keep ducking and bobbing her head around.) Luckily, she's teeny enough that I can hold her chin in one hand and brush with the other... I bet those with bigger dogs have a much bigger nightmare on their hands!

actually, my lab/border collie mix LOVES her teeth being brushed! But then she's also an unusual dog!

My pug used to hate it too. However, now I just wet a face cloth and put a bit of doggy toothpaste on it, then rub it over her teeth. She seems to tolerate that a lot more.
