Link Dog Collar by Hip Doggie
Dog Collars Review - A Merryvaluation

Sure: refined colors, luxurious materials have their place when you're the princess of pugs.
But just because you're at home with classical music and ball gowns doesn't mean you don't enjoy throwing on a pair of jeans (metaphorically speaking, possibly) and getting down with a little bit of rock 'n' roll.
That idea - jeans & rock 'n' roll, are exactly what came to mind for us when we first laid eyes on the new link collars and matching leads from the folks at Hip Doggie. They combine the downhome simplicity of a link collar and lead with the pizazz of electric blue metallic pleather.
It's probably the most fun fashion design for collars we've seen in ages. It's blingy, but it's blingy that just screams for a plain white tee and a pair of jeans.
And when given the choice of colors (the set also comes in black, bronze, green, fuschia, red, and baby pink) we just had to choose the electric blue.
Because come on. Electic blue? So totally 80's. We just had to.
The entire collar, except for the buckle, is fashioned from silver-colored chain. It's a small link, suitable for smaller pets, and the entire midsection of link is interwoven with two long strips of pleather looped through over and over for the entire length of chain. The buckle is fashioned from the same pleather with silver-colored findings. The matching leash has a large metal clasp and is also run through with the pleather.
Don't make any mistake though - this is actual chain. It's got a fair amount of weight to it. The collar by itself is not terribly heavy, but when coupled with the chain it's not the lightest leash you'll ever own. But it looks so snazzy!
Honestly, this will be one of the hottest looking items in your pet's wardrobe. No joke!
Both leash and collar are 5/8" wide and fit necks ranging from 7" to 21" (the high end of this range actually comes in 1" width instead). Sorry, teacup chi's. Obviously this choice was based on the weight of the collar.
If we had one thing to change: the "D" ring to attach leash to collar is actually an O ring. Because it's threaded through what you would consider the "front" of the collar (opposite side of the neck from the buckle), what ends up on the front of your pet's throat is the buckle. There's no place to attach the leash to the buckle area (though we did so for these photos, we don't recommend you link the leash to the pleather strap!). This was by design, but we would have much rather have kept the "O" ring at the front for an ID charm, and keep the buckle at the back of Merry's neck, where it will rub and bother her less. All you'd need is one extra D ring at the buckle to do this. Maybe this could be offered as an option for future designs?
Still, this set is wildly adorable and just on sheer color and design alone we're in love. Can't wait to see what else the folks at Hip Doggie come up with next!
