Pet Shampoo and Conditioner from Shea Pet

Dog Grooming - A Merryvaluation

As Merry gets older, I find she smells increasingly more "doggy". Her body chemistry has changed a lot since she was a tiny puppy, and it's more important to me than ever to keep her sweet-smelling, soft and shiny.

The grooming package we were sent by Shea Pet impressed us a great deal. It included two shampoos - Sulfate Free Shea Butter with Avocado, and Shea Butter Shampoo with Oatmeal and Lanolin. Also included in the package was their Shea Butter Conditioner with Allantoin and Tea Tree Oil, and a between-baths Shea Butter Skin Repair & Dander Care mist.

The scents were lovely; fresh and light, and very natural. No artificial scents are used. Shea Pet's entire product line is made cruelty-free and environmentally friendly using botanical ingredients and premium shea butter. Most of the products also use essential oils such as eucalyptus, orange, citronella, tea tree and rosemary.

Merry and I decided to start with the Shea Butter Shampoo with Oatmeal and Lanolin. The baby girl seemed to really enjoy the light citrus scent as well as the thick (and I do mean thick!) lather. We scrubbed her down from head to toe, and rinsed her off. With the thick lather, the rinsing took a little longer than usual, but eventually we had her squeaky clean.

Time for the Shea Butter Conditioner with Allantoin and Tea Tree Oil. I'll be honest here and say I've never used a conditioner on Merry's coat before, but it makes sense. I condition my own hair, why not the princess' coat? I rubbed her down with a handful of the conditioner and then chatted with her for a few moments while the conditioner did its job. A quick rinse, and it was time for the little bit's favorite part of bathtime: being rubbed down with a towel on Mom's lap.

The results were great. Soft skin and coat, no itching, and a sweet-smelling diva princess following along behind me. We did eventually try the other Shampoo, but I have to admit I think we're in love with the Oatmeal and Lanolin version. The light citrus scent was lovely and fresh and the conditioner seemed to work wonders on her coat, making her even softer than usual.

Merry blissfully doesn't have much in the way of dander and hot spots, but I found the Skin Repair mist also works great in between baths as a freshener.
