|Article Author: A Merryvaluation
Merry is one little girl who loves beds. Partly, it's the breed - for all her energy and love for fetch, she does love to lounge about full-length on any available padded surface. And part of it is the princess thing. She's come to expect pampering, and won't settle for anything less.
For all the beds she owns - pillow beds, fancy chinese beds - she's always been a little jealous of her Mom's bed. Her Mom sleeps in a big wrought iron bed with cream sheets and pillows, and Merry, frankly, has always wanted one to match.
And now she has one.
Howlin' Pet makes wrought iron beds for dogs, and they were kind enough to send a copy of their "Rex" bed for Merry to try out. It's a cute style, all graceful curves. The style is very similar to a sleigh bed. The two sides are solid wrought iron, as is the frame. The bottom of the bed (the part that holds the pillow) is similar to mesh, although slightly thicker. Presumably this would allow little "accidents" to flow through rather than resting in the pillow or weakening the bed frame.
While the bed does come disassembled, it also comes with all the hardware you need to put it together. I had Merry's put together in less than five minutes, and I'm far from being the most handy person when it comes to that sort of thing.
The thing I would want to improve about this product is the pillows. While they look cute in the photographs, they're of slightly lower quality than one would expect, and had more air than cheap fill in them which means the moment the dog leaps up on the bed, both ends of the pillow fly up in the air, knocking around the two bumper pillows. (I tucked the ends back down once Merry was on the bed for these photos.) Merry got the sass scared right out of her the first few times she landed on the bed. The covering is also a slightly scratchy inexpensive velour, which isn't the most luxurious material for your puppy to rest on. I hope the company looks at improving on this in the future; for now, buyers will likely want to pick up a new pillow and covering for their precious ones.
