Autumn means falling leaves, a crisp cool wind in the air, but the best part of all, as every diva knows, is a new fall wardrobe. You cannot, simply cannot, wear only the items from last fall's collection. New items are required. You have an image to maintain, after all.
Or so the princess pug would have us believe.
At any rate, the package from Fursacci arrived just in time. I was greatly relieved - I'm not sure I have it in me to fend off a pug insurrection. Fall dog coat arrived at the perfectb time.
The Chanel is part of Fursacci's new fall collection; a retro-styled vintage woven fog coat with collar and decorative back pocket. It's got a deliciously autumn-inspired color palette. Tans, greys, heathery blues and charcoal are all woven together to create an outfit that goes with everything - and the diva dog will tell you that items like that are a must-have for any dog wardrobe.
The edges are fringed weave, providing that little bit of extra coverage and giving it a very just-found-in-a-vintage-shop feel. The pocket echoes the style, fringed on three sides and topped with an old-fashioned gold button.
The style of the coat is traditional, with velcro at the chest and the undercarriage. Those unfamiliar with working velcro on doggies will need to be careful that they don't snag the richly textured weave with the velcro bits!
Fit is a generous one - Merry had plenty of room both at the chest and in the undercarriage.
If we had one thing to change about this coat, it would be the width of the velcro: while it would be sufficient for most average-sized dogs, special sizes at the waist or chest might need a longer strip of velcro than is provided (about 2" by 1"). The fit would be improved for all varieties of dogs if the velcro strip was about 4" long, or even as long as 5".
After all, that's why we love velcro over snaps or buttons - because of its versatility. ;)
Merry and I were thrilled with this coat - very hip, and very much in touch with fashion trends in human clothing, which means you won't have to look a year apart when you go for your long urban walks. Four paws up!
