You might be a grump. (If you're a big fan of this site, it's unlikely, but hey, you never know.) You might be a scrooge. It might have been years since you cracked a smile or laughed out loud.
But we dare you, dare you, to stay straight-faced while watchiing a princess pug prance around in a polka dottted dress.
(The only thing more fun than doggie couture is doggie couture on a pug, we swear.)
How much fun is this? The deliciously retro-inspired big polkadot dress came in recently from the folks at Waggin' Wear and we've been having fun with it ever since. The princess doesn't get too many dresses to review (some have said that pugs just aren't built for dresses, but we love to prove 'em wrong), so we don't often have the opportunity to dress the pug up and let her wander around showing off her Sunday best.
This dress is deliciously well made from a nice strong satin. It's not a delicate dress - think more 1950's sock hop material. It's sturdy without being stiff or heavy. It holds its shape beautifully (the skirt is helped out by a single layer of tulle gathered at the waist to give the bottom half of the dress a bit of kick).
We loved the style - a fitted bodice with the full skirt is a lovely look for most ladies, and our princess pug is no exception. The velcro fastenings at the chest and belly were one of our favorite bits of this design - it was a sturdy velcro with a good 3-4 inches of room to accomodate a variety of body shapes. On the princess, it fit perfectly at the chest (the velcro matched up perfectly) and she needed about an inch of offset on the velcro strips on the belly (which means she could still become a pudgier pug and still fit inside). Never a bad thing - you know, just in case she loses her girlish figure some day. :)
But the real kicker for us was the cute factor. This is one of the cutest couture dresses we've seen in - if you'll pardon the pun - a dog's age, and the pictures do not do the charm of this dress justice.
We love this new design from Waggin' Wear, and can't wait to see what they come up with next!
